Our Story

Old State Staffing was founded by small team of family office directors who saw firsthand the challenges families faced when hiring. Too often, families relied on personal networks, spoke with only a handful of candidates over months or years, and ultimately settled for whoever was available—not the best fit.

 

The problem? Private employers in the Greater Washington Region had limited access to professional hiring resources, and were forced to either navigate the process alone, or work with a firm that didn’t understand their needs. We knew there was a better way.

 

After building and managing one of the largest family offices on the East Coast, we expanded—laying the groundwork for an agency that would connect families directly to family office professionals, provide access to enterprise-level tools once reserve for only the largest family offices, and shine a light on an industry that has often operated in a “gray area” due to a lack of comprehensive resources. An agency that wouldn’t just embrace change, but one that would lead the charge. And to do it for an affordable price.

 

And so, Old State Staffing was born—and we haven’t looked back since.

We place immense value on our relationships, not just with our clients, but our candidates, and the community at large. We spent our “pandemic years” building partnerships with local universities, to open the doors of private staffing to recent college graduates in the most educated metropolitan area in the world.
